A delicate antique porcelain compote with hand painted decoration. The white compote features two birds in the center with gilt lattice and ivy surrounding the edges of the bowl. Underneath the compote are sprays of flowers and further gilt decoration. Beautifully executed details on the birds and raised white enamel on the flowers add to the appeal of the piece. It is marked with the green Sevres lozenge; however, a cut mark through the lozenge is clearly seen indicating that the un-decorated piece was sold as a blank and decorated elsewhere. These pieces are usually considered Sevres in style since it was decorated outside the factory.
