A set of six porcelain service or under-plates marked for Jean Pouyat. They have thick gold encrusted work featuring raised bead design along with urns and delicate floral swags. The work is exceptional, and the details are precise.

The six plates are marked for Jean Pouyat who operated in Limoges, France. Jean's father, Francois, ran a porcelain factory in Paris from the early 1800s to around 1840, Jean later started his own porcelain factory in Limoges in 1842. He died just a few years later in 1849. His sons assumed his business. In 1911, the Jean Pouyat Co. merged with William Guerin and Co.

French, Circa 1911, the set has three marks, one for both William Guerin & Co and Pouyat which is a green wreath with a pink ribbon running through it. This mark indicates that the hand-painted design was done at the factory.

Measurements; 10 7/8” in diameter

Condition Report; Very good, minor wear to the gold raised work, minor utensil marks to the interior of the plates.
