Five Old Paris Style Porcelain Cabinet Plates, Hand- Painted Landscape Scenes
Five Old Paris Style Porcelain Cabinet Plates, Hand- Painted Landscape Scenes
A set of five Old Paris style porcelain plates. Each plate has been hand-painted with enamel in shades of browns, greens, and blues. The scalloped and gilt-edge plates have a sea green border along with a gilt inside border.
The lake scenes are similar but there are two that have trees on the left side and three with trees on the right side. The set would look beautiful in a cabinet or displayed on a wall around a gilt mirror.
Old Paris porcelain was thought to have run its time by 1875. I am not sure the set dates to that time frame. Perhaps early 1900’s. These plates are in fine condition showing little wear so they could be earlier and just rarely used. Or they could have been done in early 1900’s in the style of Old Paris. No markings other than an incised letter on three of the plates.
Measurements; 8 5/8”
Condition Report; Very good, a few glaze pops, enamel painting shows little wear. Light wear on reverse side.
