A splendid antique English sterling silver christening mug of baluster form featuring six panels that are chased with floral and acanthus leaf detail. The presentation cup rests on a pedestal base and has a scroll handle with applied bead detailing and acanthus motif. The presentation piece also has a gilt interior which is in very good condition. Engraved for a sweet child and the year 1839 on the front and noted on the bottom of the foot that is was a present by her grandfather. William IV Period. A fine gift or a collector's item.
English Sterling; hallmarked with, Lion Passant for silver guarantee, for the Assay town of London as denoted by the Leopard’s head, date letter S for the year 1833, Monarch’s Mark, and the makers mark of RA over WS for Richard William Atkins & William Nathaniel Somersall.
