Antique French Tole Plaque, Hand-Painted Shield Shaped
An antique French tole plaque in the shape of a shield. The hand-painted plaque features a dog with flaming torch is painted black and silver featuring a star, crossed branches and a dog holding a torch. The symbolism is still being researched and may possibly be a family shield. It has a holder on the back that may have been used to hold a processional flag. Just in from France, I think it would make an exceptional cover for a wall sconce. The shield offers other options for display.
