A fine impressive English sterling silver presentation bowl. The Monteith style bowl is marked for the year 1906. The bowl bears the Royal Coat of Arms on one side. The Shield is inscribed with “Dieu et Mon Droit” (God and my right) and “ Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense
(Shame on anyone who thinks evil of it).
The bowl also features cast and applied acanthus decoration and two drop ring style handles.
Excellent weight, at just over 37 troy ounces and was made by Carrington & Co, London.
English sterling silver as denoted by the Lion Passant mark, assay town of London, Leopard’s head mark, makers mark, C&Co into a chamfered rectangle for Carrington & Co. ( 130 Regent Street, London), and Date letter, l for 1906.
Measurements; 1,159 grams or 37.29 troy ounces. 6" high and 8 1/4" wide
