English Sterling Silver Place Card Holder, Victorian Era, 1894

Antique English Victorian Era sterling place card holder hallmarked for 1894. The place card holder features a floral wreath with a bow set on a rectangular base with gadroon style edges. Further, there is a family crest with an antelope’s head.
The card holder has been designed with a slight lean away from a guest. It can be used to hold a small menu; however, a large menu may lose effect when it is at an angle.

English sterling silver as denoted by the lion passant mark, assay town of Sheffield, the letter “b” for the year 1894, and the maker's mark J D & S for James Dixon and Sons.

Measurements: 2 3/8” high, base 2 ½” X 1 ¾”, weight 42 grams

Condition Report: Overall very good antique condition, tiny surface scratches on the flat area of base. The spots on the right side of base are a reflection of items near my photo tent.
