Antique French Silver Wine or Mint Julep Cup, Tumbler, Timbale
Antique French Silver Wine or Mint Julep Cup, Tumbler, Timbale
A fine French silver timbale , cup or beaker. The timbale is worked in the Louis XVI style with a large cast and applied oval cartouche on the front. The cartouche is in the form of a shield with a winged bird at the top. The decoration of the shield continues with the torch and arrow motifs, ribbons, and Laurel leaves. It is finished off with cross ribbons over bands. Overall a very pleasing example of French timables. The cups does have a monogram that appears to be a “T”.
Perfect for wine and Mint Juleps the silver cups are always an appreciated gift for wedding, birthdays, and anniversaries.
