An Old Paris Porcelain covered server embellished with an ornate family crest or seal. striking dish is in an “egg custard” yellow with white handles and finial which have received gilt trim. The decorative details on the lid are finished with gilt paint and deep red. The bright French blue on the spectacular shield adds contrast.
French Porcelain, C 1850. The dish is marked for Rihouet Lerosey. The company originally was started by Louis Marie François Rihouet who was born into a wealthy family with ties to the Duke of Orleans. He retired in 1853 and sold his business to Charles Lerosey. The brand continued as Rihouet Lerosey until 1910

Condition Report; Very good. No chips or cracks noted. A small loss of gilt on trim in a few areas.
