A most unusual French shield shaped plaque with a family crest and crown. It is crafted from copper with a silver plate overlay. The silver is worn in many areas with copper bleeding through which adds more charm and character to the piece.
Perhaps a plaque on a carriage, building or other property owned by someone quite important. There are small holes both on the top of the ribbon, top part of shield and bottom of the shield for hanging the plaque. It has a good cleaning and more tarnish could be removed if desired. I feel to remove more would remove some of the character of the piece.
French, C 1875
Measurements; 8" long X 5" at widest point
Condition Report; Very good, wear to the silver plate, a few scratches and tarnish on the edges.
