Antique French Sterling Silver Egg Cup & Spoon with Presentation Case
Antique French sterling silver egg cup and spoon set in a presentation case. Beautifully decorated in the Rococo style both the interior of the egg cup and the bowl of the spoon have a gilt or vermeil finish. The cup has Rocaille motifs including a medallion that has not been monogrammed. A perfectly elegant way to enjoy one’s breakfast egg.
French, Both pieces are hallmarked with the French Minerve mark for first standard .950 (used after 1838) along with the maker’s punch (initials are EF) which is being researched.
Measurements; egg cup 2 7/8” high with diameter of 1 5/8”, spoon is 4 7/8” long, 52 grams for combined weight
Condition Report; very good condition. A few micro surface scratches in accordance with age and use. Gilt wash inside cup and on spoon is very good. Case has a small amount of fraying to the satin liner (mostly at the bottom) and box shows wear to edges, latch works well
