A handsome French silver and vermeil timbale. Most often timbales from the late 19th C only have vermeil interiors while this one has the gilt wash inside and out. It is classic and crisp in design with a flared rim. The timbale bears a monogram of CG. and is in very good condition along with the gilt wash. A fine addition to a silver beaker collection, wine cup, or bar-ware collection. It would look exceptionally nice iced and filled with a Mint Julep on Derby Day.

French sterling silver marked for .950 with the Minerve 1st Titre mark, maker’s mark is still be researched. Possibly Eugène Rocher. The lozenge bears the marks of EFR along with a serpent or snake. I have tracked several beakers sold at auction with the same mark. Those beakers dated to the late 1800’s and so does Eugène Rocher mark (which has a serpent); therefore I will date the piece to the late 1800’s and continue researching the mark.
