Antique French Wood Architectural Fragment, Crown with Gilt Paint
An antique architectural wood crown fragment. The architectural element is closest in form to the crown design for a Marquis. Hand carved of wood and finished with deep red and gilt paint. The piece most likely was part of a larger piece of furniture or a frame.
A finishing touch for a wall arraignment or table display.
French, early 19th Century. Existing paint may be a later addition.
