French Faience Pottery Set by Emile Galle, Eight Plates & Two Compotes c1900

A set of eight Faience plates and two compotes by Emile Galle of Nancy, France His name is normally linked to cameo glass and his pottery is not as well known. This adds to the importance of this set since he did not create large amounts of pottery plus this is a set of ten pieces.

The plates and compotes are decorated in blue with reticulated edges and heraldic crest in the center. The set is comprised of eight serving or dessert plates and two compotes. A banner on the bottom of the shield bears the Latin phrase Non Inultus Premor ("I cannot be touched with impunity").

In 1874 he oversaw the Saint-Clement pottery and then later moved the pottery to Nancy.
