French Sterling Silver Egg Cup or Server, C 1900, Antique Tableware
A delightful antique French sterling silver egg cup, standing gracefully on three paw-footed legs. Its rim mimics the whimsical edge of a cracked eggshell, as though freshly opened for a perfect breakfast. One side blooms with finely chased flowers and foliage, while the other bears an elegant script monogram with curling acanthus leaves. A charming piece that carries the artistry and grace of a bygone French table.
French, .950 sterling silver as denoted by the French Minerve #1 Mark, C 1900
The maker's mark Claude DOUTRE ROUSSEL and shows his last name with two dominos underneath. The Mark was registered on May 17th 1895. His workshop was located 118 rue Vieille du Temple in the Marais Area of Paris.
