An antique French sterling silver egg cup or holder beautifully decorated in the Guilloché manner. The cartouche on the front is beautifully monogrammed in script with the initals “SC”

French, mid-19th C, hallmarked with the French Minerve mark for first standard .950 (used after 1838)and the makers mark of Nicolas Vautrin who was active from 1844 till 1862.( a crescent over two stars and a pellet between the letters N and V., the two stars can be seen, the crescent is worn.)

Condition Report, Very good, small bend on foot and a ding on one side which is shown in a close up.All in accordance with age and use.
